Policy Council

POLICY COUNCIL

Policy Council members are currently enrolled Early Head Start & Head Start parents serving alongside community members and are the link between the people making and carrying out decisions and the people EHS/Head Start serves.

When we come together during Policy Council meetings, parents, staff, community members and the School Board work as one to ensure our youngest children are ready for school with a solid foundation for learning.

Policy Council meetings are the first Thursday of every month, August through May from 5:00 p.m.  to 6:30 p.m. at the Salina location.

Parents or guardians of currently enrolled children notify Heartland Staff of their intention to run for Policy Council and are placed on the ballot. Parents vote to elect the Policy Council representative for their programs during open house or parent meetings.

Dinner and child care are provided at no cost for every Policy Council meeting. Mileage reimbursement is provided to members traveling from outlying sites.
